Italian Peasant Cooking with Emiko Davies, Friday 3 March
About Emiko Davies
Emiko Davies is a Florence-based, Australian-born, food writer, photographer, blogger and most importantly, 'cook'! Her passion to discover, understand and document traditional recipes, has led her on a life of culinary adventure. While her first book Florentine takes us on a personal food journey of Florence, her about to be released book Acquacotta is bound to have us all dreaming of a sojourn on Italy's 'Silver Coast' (believe me....I've had a sneak peak!). We're lucky that Emiko returns to Australia from time to time to visit her family, making a seemingly idyllic way of life.
The day will begin at 10am with morning tea and an introduction to the exciting day ahead. Emiko will guide us through her list of recipes to be made (including Strozzapreti - hand rolled noodles, and her most scrumptious Schiacciata all'Uva - grape Focaccia (this by my special request after her first visit last year!) and we'll take a wander in the kitchen garden to collect as many ingredients as possible. As it will be a very intimate class, you will be encouraged to participate in the preparation of the recipes, followed by a late lunch, enjoying every morsel produced during the morning's activity. It will be a day of gentle conversation about food, the inspiration Italy's traditional recipes have on us all, of demonstration, participation, and fun. We anticipate the day ending after lunch at 3.00 / 3.30, with time to have a little potter in the Barn and garden. Emiko hopes very much to have copies of Acquacotta available to purchase on the day!
Cost $295.00 per person
